AltRider Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z Universal Joint Guard Dangers exist on and off road for your universal joint, so protect it with the AltRider Universal Joint Guard for the Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z. The AltRider part is larger than OEM, and features an enclosed top that attaches to the nut on the inside of the subframe mount. This is important, because the OEM can easily slip inside or snag riding gear, tripping you up when you attempt to move your foot our enclosed top prevents that from occurring. Additionally, the OEM rubber boot that covers the universal joint is attached only by friction, and could become dislodged by foreign objects. Our universal joint guard offers coverage to the boot, protecting it from debris that could move it. This piece is made in America from 1/8 inch anodized aluminum, and mounts using OEM hardware. It comes in black and silver finishes to complement your bikes color scheme. Specifications Height 6 Inches Width 3 Inches Depth 3 Inches Weight 33 lbs.

This is titled an "Initial Review" because the manufacturer stated that they're addressing a finishing problem with this product.
No problem with Revzilla on this (there never is) as they're stock and shipping were excellent as usual.
The guard I received appeared to be well made and had several laser cutouts. It installed quickly and fit nearly perfect. The problem arose after my first ride with the guard installed while wearing some new boots and pants. I was removing my boots and pants when I noticed they were damaged. Both my left boot (Sidi Canyon) and my pants (Klim Badlands) were damaged by the sharp, unfinished laser-cut edges of the guard.
I immediately contacted AltRider via email which they promptly and courteously responded to, stating their acknowledgement of a manufacturing problem in that some of these guards had mistakenly been shipped prior to having gone through a deburring/finishing process.
A bit late for my brand new, expensive Goretex boots and pants I'm afraid, but things happen.
I'm awaiting their reply as to whether they'll cross ship a replacement guard prior to my returning their defective one as I'm leaving for a trip soon and need to get this resolved quickly. They hadn't made any mention of what they may or may not do about the damages their product caused to my gear.
I'll follow up when things are corrected.
No, I do not recommend this product.

These are reserved for the coldest days. Short of that I use KLIM Aggressors. With layering and pairing being the true paths to comfort, warmth, and proper ventilation, this layer provides the greatest degree of on-skin cold weather comfort . Their fit and construction are excellent. If needed, they air dry quickly overnight.
I'll never be without these. KLIM gear has significantly changed the way I ride for the better. Their design, comfort, safety and sensibility match my needs ideally.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Having bought this in March I had the opportunity to put it to the test on a couple of 20°-30° days. Paired with an appropriate base layer and Goretex outer this mid layer nearly creates heat. I was really surprised at the level of comfort I had in that temp range. It is a tad thick (not uncomfortably), but the heat retention dividends more than make up for that. I wore it over a KLIM Defender base and under their Overland Jacket and was very warm and comfortable.
I'm not a heated gear guy and therefore choose my apparel very carefully. KLIM has never disappointed me with that in mind.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Paired with the Inferno pants these turn cold days Miami. No binding, total comfort, and great breathability when paired with an appropriate base layer and Goretex outer. Materials, workmanship, and overall quality are all excellent. It's also a great destination jacket.
Haven't experienced ANY pilling as was mentioned in the previous review. Makes me wonder if it's being worn against something it's not suited to. In my experience, KLIM infallibly produces their mid layers to glide freely over their base layers and also under their Goretex outers.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Can't say too much on these other than I hope I'll never need them and it's great to have insurance in the pannier if I do. The one's on the boots seem pretty bullet proof so these may well be moot.

Used with or without a mid layer, these shirts provide excellent comfort and ventilation efficiency when paired with a Goretex outer. They pack small and wear great... Ideal for longer hauls. Cleaning is also a breeze as they easily hang-dry overnight. Fit and quality are typical KLIM... Excellent.

As I learned with the Aggressor briefs, the perfect base layer is the ideal companion. Makes long days on the bike WAY more comfortable. Their wicking properties in concert with that of an efficient mid layer (if needed) and a Goretex outer make for great comfort and ventilation.
Other than the fit being outstanding, there's little more to say about a product that simply and effectively facilitates comfort.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought these based upon my experience with their cold weather cousin, the insulated A-Stars Tech Road Goretex glove.
Minus the insulation, the fit is identical, familiar and very comfortable. They're also equally waterproof.
A little pricy for a glove, which is also what I thought when I bought the Tech Roads, but as with all things high quality those thoughts quickly fade when enjoying the attributes that come with those prices. Buy once buy right, I was always taught. That philosophy certainly applies to riding gear.
Yes, I recommend this product.

As soon as I put these on it was clear they were here to stay. I was eager to try these as others had commented on a different kind of fit at the waist. It is different... Good different.
The fit is clearly derived from modeling designed to give a seated rider maximum comfort without binding, creeping, or bunching. Frankly, they leave the package alone, the knees free and the butt comfy. Throw in total dryness and superior ventilation and you've got the ideal pant. As with all Goretex outers, they're only as good as the base and mids beneath. I go with KLIM for all those as well.
Materials and workmanship are straight A's. I nearly gave a demerit for cost, but after ogling over the design, quality, comfort, and safety features it's apparent those just don't come cheaply... Nor should they. If you want cheap there's plenty out there to suffer.
Lastly, when my wife whistles when I walk away it's confirmed I made the right choice.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Like all my KLIM gear, this one won me over as soon as I put it on. It's great to have a flexible use outer without a waste strap as I've grown used to (8yrs) with their PowerXross pullover, my go to outer.
Coming from a lifetime of dirt riding I'm very fond of the tolerant and motion oriented fit that offers no binding or discomfort whatsoever. Armor placement isn't even felt. The jacket feels perfectly neutral. The cuffs are typically a little stiff to start but loosen nicely after a few wearings. Waterproofness is excellent. Ventilation is good. The collar seems to represent years of tweaking as it's the best one I've felt yet. Worn with appropriate KLIM base and mid-layers this jacket is an excellent all-weather solution.
Function over form type here, and I really appreciate a garment without an overabundance of features and bling. KLIM just happens to push all the right buttons with me.
Yes, I recommend this product.
