First, this is my first leather jacket, I've worn a mesh textile jacket for the last 10 years. I was drawn to the look, styling and added protection of the GP series elbow and shoulder pads. I agree with other reviews that for the money upgraded chest and back pads should be included as standard. I purchased the bionic chest pads and bionic race back protector for maximum covereage.
Fitment: I am 5'8" 220 lbs with a 46" chest and I generally wear a 38 waist pant. Although the sizing chart says I'm a 56-58 I went with the 60 and it fits well. Its snug but not tight to where I have to "suck it in" to zip it up even with the upgraded padding. The arm length is perfect and stops right at the point where it is covered by my short riding glove. The zippers are solid and do not move at all during rides. The front of the jacket comes down to a natural point at my waistline and does not bunch up. The rear of the jacket, as well as the back protector, come down below my beltline. I have the back protector snapped into the lowest position to avoid pushing the speed hump up towards my helmet any further. The rear of the jacket stays tight to my back throughout the ride.
Positives: I love the look of the jacket as well as the feeling that I'm as well protected as I can be. Having worn a mesh jacket in the past I expected the leather to feel like wearing a trash bag under my clothes during summer. I was more than suprised by the ventilation provided by this jacket. My ride today was in 82 degree sunny conditions. My entire torso was exposed to moving air during my ride. My arms really didn't feel like air was getting to them but I didn't sweaat there either so it was at least breathable. The only place where I felt sweat was in my back under the race protector. I only realized this after my ride when I took the gear off, I never got hot during the ride. Now onto the devil that you love, the speed hump. I must admit that I bought it more for the look than the functionality as I may never hit a track but I found that it held my head steady as a rock. My head would get bumped around as I infringed on a few speed limits until I had the speed hump behind it. I feel like I'm spending alot less energy keeping my head still with this jacket.
Negatives: The speed hump....It fights my helmet. I found that I was only able to lift my head up enough under normal riding conditions to look through the top 25% of my visor. Being a noob to the speed hump this may be a fitment issue with my helmet #icon alliance# but it was not comfortable. I found that I strained less to lift my head with the back protector removed but that defeats the purpose of the added protection. Still, I was able to adjust things with the back protector attached to get through an hour ride with minor inconviences of lifting the chin of my helmet up once in a while. Second, like other reviews state, the neck is scratchy and almost made me not want to turn my head. I'm seriously considering wearing an under armor mock t-neck under the jacket to prevent the irritation.
All things considered I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend this jacket to others. I find that when I look and feel good, my confidence is increased and I ride safer and smarter without having to worry about my level of protection. You can't put a $ amount on premium level of protection provided by the setup I purchased and I am more than satisfied with the value and safe feeling.

jacket size with upgraded armor
hi i wear a 46/56 normally and was thinking of upgrading the chest and back to the bionic armor. do i have to move up a size to fit the added armor.
I found that moving up one size from my suggested size on the chart provided enough room to accomodate the bionic chest pads and bionic race protector. I am 5'8" 220 with a 46" chest and 38 waist. The size chart says I'm a 56-58 but I ordered a 60 and it fits perfect with the upgraded armor. Hope this helps, ride safe.
