Protection & Durability
We've been riding 2 up with these for about 3 weeks and are very impressed with the sound quality and the quick intercom/phone connection we get. So much better than our previous code of strategically placed back punches. And so courteous, too! I tells you "hello" when you power it on in a voice that sounds like it's truly happy to be hanging out with you for another fun day on the bike. We are able to conference-call a third party on the phone and he can toggle back and forth between intercom and Pandora on his phone for those awkward moments when I run out of interesting things to say. In all seriousness, though, it's almost too much stimulation and entertainment so use with discretion. It would be nice if it gave you more of a low-battery warning (you get about 15 seconds presently, which is not enough to even be worth having).
Olympia Women's Switchback Jacket Modern styling combined with cutting edge design best describes the ladies Switchback jacket. Cut in a form flattering hour glass shape, this style offers exclusive custom-fit detailing, adding major adjustability through the waist and hip areas. Constructed in authentic Cordura fabric with ballistic mesh panels, it also offers maximum airflow with exceptional abrasion resistance. To round out the package, it is equipped with a removable wind and waterproof / breathable liner jacket for added comfort, function and style. 3M Scotchlite trim at the front, sides and back insures added visibility in low light situations. This jacket represents the highest quality-to-price ratio in the market. Features Outer shell constructed in 500 denier Cordura fabric with ballistic airflow mesh panels Removable waterproof liner jacket Removable CE approved Motion Flex armor at elbows and shoulders Removable CE approved Motion Flex articulated back protector Cool mesh airflow lining Custom Fit detailing at collar, cuffs, elbows and waist Comfort neoprene framed collar 3M Scotchlite reflective piping at front, sides and back 8 connecting zipper for pants Three storage pockets plus interior cell phone pocket Waterproof liner jacket features Sturdy wind and waterproof / breathable rip stop nylon shell Side snap pockets Mandarin style knit trim collar Interior storage pocket
This jacket may not be at the absolute apex of state-of-the-art technology, but it is probably the best you can get at a price we regular working janes can afford. The armor is well-placed and substantial (including the articulated back plate) and the interior cell phone and map pockets come in very handy. Despite the fact that a large portion of the jacket is cordura, not just regular mesh, I get plenty of air flow. It's been in the 90s this month and I'm comfortable (even cold past sundown and needing the liner). I haven't had the opportunity to test the liner for its waterproof qualities yet, and fortunately haven't gotten to test the armor or abrasion protection. My only complaint is that it hits me about 1" too high at the waist and 2-3" too short in the sleeves. YMMV--I'm 6 ft tall. I weigh in around 155 and the medium fits just snugly enough when cinched down to not flap around and generously enough to accommodate a thin down sweater under.
