This is a great jacket. I got it for my girlfriend who is an occasional passenger on my Tenere. I wanted something that would protect her and offer three season comfort. She is very style conscious and while agreeing with the protection / comfort approach also wanted something that would look good.
This jacket does all that. The design - with the mesh inner jacket holding all the armor - is brilliant. We got the black and purple. Both the mesh jacket and the outer jacket look fantastic, and the customizable fit highlights her highlights.
I saw the reviews saying the rain protection isn't what it could be. I can't comment on that - I don't plan to bring her along if it's raining.
We checked several brick and mortar stores in the area - no women's jacket anyone had in store was close to the features, look, and fit of this jacket.

I gave it a 4 on bang for buck because it's kinda pricey for two small pieces of metal. But if you think of every time you've parked on dirt and had to scrape for a rock to put under your sidestand, this is worth it. I'm guessing it's about 3 times the surface area of the stock Tenere sidestand, and so far on sand and packed dirt it's been perfect. You can park your bike on practically any fairly level surface and not have to worry about it sinking in.
Two notes: On a perfectly flat surface, this doesn't lay perfectly flat on the ground, it's a little angled, but that doesn't hurt anything. And, since the foot is a little larger, when you stand on your pegs the back of your left foot hits this (because the stand is in the 'up' position). That hasn't bothered me at all riding with it.

I was looking for a jacket I could wear in cold, hot, wet or dry weather and not have to carry a second lighter jacket with another set of pads, etc. This X Moto jacket (also got the pants - also great, the full leg zippers alone make them worth the money, you can take them on and off, and remove liner, etc, without taking your boots off) is perfect for all weather use. Very warm and dry in rain, and cool with the liners out and vents open.
The waterproof liner is its own jacket, so you don't have to carry another.
The waterfproof external pockets are perfect for garage door opener, wallet, etc. I wasn't sure what the point was of those being waterproof - now I get it.
The clear window on the left sleeve is perfect for anyone riding onto a military base. Put your ID in there, buy the high-visibility color scheme, and leave your mil-spec orange vest at home - forever.
Another note about the hi-vis color: I almost didn't get this and soooooo glad I did. Face it, you want to be as visible as possible when you're riding, and I have seen a SIGNIFICANT difference in the behavior of people in cars since getting this jacket because I am more visible. Not saying I now trust them all with my life, but this is definitely better.
This is the first really high end riding gear I've had in 35 years of riding. If you've looked at these and wondered whether they're worth the money, well, I'm sold. I'd buy this jacket/pants combo again in a heartbeat.
I have a Yamaha Super Tenere. This jacket works great with that riding position. When I first tried the jacket with the liners and all, I was afraid the shoulders and back might be too snug (I'm 5'11", 195lbs, got an XL). But when I sat on the bike, I was amazed how good the whole thing felt, mobility in the jacket when riding is excellent.
I also like the strap across the throat - you can stick that out of the way when it's a little warmer, and can lay the whole collar down when it's really warm.
I've gotten to ride this in 40 degrees and rain: very very happy with the whole set.

I think this is a must if you're taking a Tenere off pavement. The OEM plastic guard just isn't going to protect the oil filter. I only rated this a 4 on bang for buck because while the bang is really good, it costs a lot of bucks...But less than a cracked pan would cost, I'm thinking.
Fit is excellent, coverage looks very good, and I'm sure this will take a lot of abuse.
I didn't see this info anywhere else, but the plate has two holes for draining oil without having to remove it. Since Tenere wants a new oil filter only every other oil change, I figure I'll probably have to remove this (two screws at each of three corners, and a bolt at the fourth corner) every 8K miles. That shouldn't suck too badly.

AltRider Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z Crash Bars Now that youre the proud owner of a Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z, you want crash bars to protect it. AltRider's are built from one inch stainless steel so theyll never rust, and feature beautiful hand TIG welds. In designing these crash bars, AltRider went through the trouble of maintaining the hidden connector in the front to yield a seamless system. Why is that important It means the energy of a hard impact on one side can be transferred throughout the bars and to the other side. The three mounts on one side dont have to take an entire impact load instead, it is distributed across six mount mounts so none of them are overwhelmed. All of this is important because the crash bars will not only protect the fairing in the case of a crash, but also the Super Teneres exposed radiator. We also conducted a thorough study to identify the bikes contact points when on its side. This led to a crash bar design that offers a wide contact area between the crash bars and the ground. The other contact points will be the handlebar bar ends, and rear passenger peg protecting the fairing, engine, radiator, and brake and shifter lever. Additionally, AltRider ensured the glove box side panel will have plenty of clearance to be easily removed while bars are still installed. Stainless T-304 construction Hand TIG welding 1 inch diameter tubing for strength Comes with the Torx bit needed for installation

These things are very impressive. Fit like a glove (two hints: leave those screws on the connecting bar REALLY loose until you have all the other bolts started, and don't try this alone - the tolerances are too tight, it will take forever, and you risk stripping threads). Even the fit on the radiator bracket is dead on. I like the idea they're stainless because I've seen used guards rusting where they get scraped up, and I really like the coverage on these.
The instructions don't make it clear at all, but yes, you can remove the side covers without having to remove the guards. I'm not sure how it'll be when it comes to valve adjustments, etc., but glad I can get the sides off.

Heidenau K60 Scout Front Tire A true 50/50 dual sport tire, the K60 Scout brings a proven balance of performance on- and off-road. With an improved tread and compound, the Scout delivers better cornering stability and wet weather grip on the pavement, while delivering off-road as well. The chevron style tread pattern is similar to full knobby designs which provides lots of open space between the tread blocks to route sand, mud and water from the contact patch while constantly keeping some rubber in contact with the road as the tire rotates. This tire is a stand-out as it does not sacrifice on-road longevity and adhesion to the pavement for off-road traction. A difficult feat for any tire to accomplish. TL Tubeless TT Tube Type Tire

I got these (front and rear) for a Yamaha Tenere, so I have the tubeless ones. I'm much more confident on the dirt with these than the factory tires - they're just better off pavement than Battlewings, but that's to be expected.
I haven't had them on wet roads, but dry grip is better than I expected on pavement too. No problem staying with a couple of beemer road bikes on twisties (not racing bikes - I'm not an idiot). Very happy with the rear, the front likes rain grooves and wobbles a little around 80 mph and up on highways. It's not major, but I'm not sure I'd take them to their 118mph rating on a grooved road. On two lane crowned roads, I don't get that at all.
