I bought this jacket 5 months ago and have used it in almost all type of weather (we dont have sub 35/snow weather in Colombia). This is a true weatherproof jacket, perfect for riding in a downpur en route to the office and arrive dry and warm. It has good venting but you´ll certainly work a good sweat in temperatures above 80 degrees. With the liner in and maybe a base layer, this jacket will stand up to 40 degree weather at highway speeds. As for protection, this jacket is great. I took a hit by a bus a couple of months ago and ended up rolling in quite a bit of asphalt. Didn´t feel the hit in the shoulders and elbows and the jacket came out pretty dirty but otherwise perfect. If you choose the silver one, bear in mind, this jacket colour is a dirt magnet. It shows the dirt very fast. This jacket is not very heavy, it looks good and at highway speeds it does not inflate like a ballon. The D3O pads are very pliable and allow a great range of movement.
All in all, an amazing jacket. Concerning Revzilla´s service: Absolutely the best out there.

Can the armor be upgraded?
for example 3do or some other brand for the shoulders, elbows and back?
