I recently received an IICON Carbon Airframe RR for my birthday. I had asked for it based on specs, reviews and the fact that my Arai Quantum /f had received some lining damage in a freak earring accident. And I use a lot of other IICON products that I really like. I've included a photo comparison of the RR against my Arai and Shoei helmets. The Shoei was my first sportbike helmet. The RR is about 3.5 ounces lighter than the old Shoei (just enough to be noticeable) and only 1 oz lighter than the Arai. Fit is about the same but much tighter on temples and cheeks which would normally be ok, but I wear glasses and that a bit of a problem with this much padding. But the lining is easily replaced since they use a snap-in attachment. The RR is noticeably larger than the Arai and only marginally larger than the Shoei, but it is not what I would call a "big" helmet (compared to a Bell for example). The airflow is good, but still insufficient at low speeds to prevent some fogging. They claim the shield is anti-fog, but I don't think so - the only anti-fog I've ever seen truly work is where there is an additional shield that creates and air gap (I have such a shield on my Arai) - they are not inexpensive, so adding that feature increases the cost a good bit. The RR also has a shield lock pin.. works a bit too well - it definitely will keep the shield closed, but it's really difficult to open, especially if you just want to pop open a bit for some fresh air at a stoplight. So I seldom lock it all the way down.
I like the RR, but all things considered (not knowing anything about how well it would actually protect my noggin), my next helmet in the $500 price range will probably be a Shoei 1100 or another Arai (arguably the best brands, but based on my experience I'd say that perception is correct). At this price there are a lot of good choices. I am going to try to modify the temple pads to allow room for comfortable wearing of glasses. IOW, I'm going certainly going to be using the RR as much as my Arai.
Yes, I recommend this product.
