Recently purchased the dual communicator pack for bike-to-bike communication with my girlfriend. Units paired flawlessly to each other and to my Nokia N9 and her iPhone.
I would skip the VOX mode -- it kept turning on unintentionally due to wind noise (we both have full face helmets and had the visors closed). If VOX enables unintentionally, it mutes whatever music/GPS directions you had playing. We have had much better luck with the push-to-initiate conversation mode. Once we disabled VOX (requires a restart after disabling via the unit's easy-to-use audio menu), the units worked great over varying ranges.
Install was quick and easy using the supplied allen wrench and brackets. I needed to remove the cheek pads and partially remove the liner to feed the wire for the in-helmet speakers through. Something to consider, the speakers take up a it of room in the ear port of the helmet , causing it to be a bit of a tight fit when using earplugs with the in-helmet speakers in my Shoei X12. Nothing touches/causes discomfort, but it's a tight fit.
I only rated the durability as "good" because I have read that the units are not waterproof; I have not had a chance to test this (and hope I never do!).
Yes, I recommend this product.

I currently wear a Shoei RF1100 and the fit for my head shape is perfect(XXL).I would like to upgrade to an X12.Can I expect roughly the same fit.

Hi,

I have owned both an RF1100 (past) and X-12 (current). Both were size Medium and both fit my head similarly. I found that there was more room between the chin bar and my nose/face with the RF1100 -- this could be due to the shape of the helmet or the way the X-12 sits on my head.
