I bought an RF-1100 last year (size XL). The salesman insisted the pad would mould to my cheeks and maybe they did give some but after 40 hours of riding I was still fighting the stock 35mm pads. I bought the 31mm pads and it is a much better fit. Still snug -- I'm hoping they will break in a little more.

How to determine optional cheek pad size?

Just purchased a medium SHOEI QUEST helmet with standard 35mm cheek pads which are too tight for the shape of my face. There are 33 and 31mm pads listed but there are no instructions to determine which would provide the best fit. any advice would be appreciated.
I have the SHOEI RF-1100 in XL. I just replaced the 35mm with the 31mm. 4mm is about 15 hundredths of an inch which is incredibly small. I'm surprised they make a 33 in between the two. I think if the 35 is tight enough to bother you after break-in, go all the way to a 31mm.
