I ordered these to have more protection when riding than normal shoes without looking out of place. The style is definitely top notch. The protection and build quality, not so much.
The second time that I put these on, the string attached to the pull tab ripped straight off. If they can't stand up to being laced up, I really don't expect them to help me any in a crash. Also, the ankle protectors are really just light plastic. No impact protection at all, maybe some help in a slide.
One good point is that they definitely flow a lot of air.
