This product has been worn in almost every imaginable weather from 95 degree heat to a snowy -10 degrees, from monsoon rains to blowing dusty cross winds and it performed completely as advertised.
This is the 3rd and best jacket I have ever owned. Hands down! And I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is serious about touring.

How often must the jacket be treated to remain waterproof?

Not ever.
The exterior of the inner jacket behind the mesh is constructed of a plastic/rubber compound that sheds water like a duck. The inner jacket is very stylish and can be worn on its own as a destination jacket.
