Great once they break in, wear down a bit too easily.

I've had these for about a year now and love them. The first few days I had these they were a big tight, but after getting caught in the rain for about an hour while riding these on a 600 mile journey they broke in just fine. They're very comfortable and have had a great year. Recently however, the knuckle seems to have cracked on its own through regular usage. I did not drop them, punch anything with them on etc. and just noticed a crease through the leather where the crack had happened. I would like to have seen these last another season but I don't feel they are as safe with the crack in the protective knuckle plate.

How does this compare to the Alpinestars Fastback WP Riding Shoes?

The Alpinestars are waterproof, but don't offer the additional ankle padding. I'm wondering if given the option which of the two come out on top?
