With all due respect to good reviewers, having used many high-end helmets and low-end helmets I find this helmet cheap overall.
- plastic everything and not the good kind. the kind that feels like you know it will break in your hands plastic
- the visor mount mechanism is one of the worst I have seen ever. one finicky plastic tongue; I have no idea how this helmet can survive off road / adventure use (vibrations, harsh situations)
- the plastic thingies that mount the beak flex; in such a way that they will, I am afraid quite sooner than later, will break. my primary point in getting this helmet was the ability to remove the beak and use the helmet in the "road mode" but removing the beak exposed the super weak visor mount and the beak mounts felt like they will break in my hands sooner than later. so forget about doing this on the road side, you need to get into a dunkin or something, take all gear off and baby this thing to remove the beak or mount the beak.
- I have no idea how many remove / replace that visor mount will bear. my guess: 5 :)
- the cheek pads have the worst designed mounting mechanism: a little plastic envelope type of thing holding a plastic push pin in its belly. the push pins move - they fell off when I took the cheek pad off. you will lose those pins, period.
- the wear / fit is uncomfortable. must be my head.
- the beak mount is one of the weakest I have ever seen in any helmet.
- the sun visor mechanism is impossible to maneuver with thick gloves. even thin gloves. the slider has a final bumpy area in retract / detract points (at the very ends) to secure the visor in those positions. the slider is very, very thin and impossible to feel with gloves. I couldn't for the life of me, put the sun visor in any position and lock it in place with gloves on.
- the visor won't lock in place. this thing will open in dirt. and it doesn't have degrees of openness. it is either open all the way or closed all the way. nothing in between. you cannot crack open this thing a quarter of an inch to let some air in.
the helmet only looks cool. it should be sold for under $400 for this level of workmanship. I have no idea what [you know which company] did to this helmet to warrant a $200+ markup.
bought and returned as soon as I could.

Awesome idea, very clever implementation, gets the job done and looks cool while doing it. I can even crawl my boom mic into this and since it's a perfect enclosure it actually provides a very silent environment to talk. People cannot tell that I am calling them from my bike!
And yes, if you mount it correctly and squeeze the nose tip adjuster properly, it does prevent fogging. I ride at < 20F (down to 9F) trust me, I know.

Because your "Medium" sized helmet is squeezing your cheeks so much that you can hardly talk over the intercom; don't bother. The "small" cheekpads are actually larger, thicker and slightly bigger than what came with my Icon Variant Ghost. Sadly I threw away the package, so these will sit on the side in the offshoot possibility that I lose one of the cheekpads while wearing the helmet ;)

Icon Variant Ghost Helmet Stepping up and out of the Variant lineup, the Icon Variant Ghost Carbon Helmet takes everything that makes the Variant a top dual-sport helmet and adds a super light and strong hand-laid carbon fiber shell, translucent supervents and a yellow Icon Optics face shield. Comfort, vision, protection. A wind tunnel refined shape, executed in a Carbon Fiber/Kevlar/Spectra shell construction matrix, along with an dual-density EPS core provide critical impact energy management. Extensive venting and a removable HydraDry wicking liner provide increased comfort by reducing rider fatigue. The anti-lift visor directs and channels airflow as it reduces the glare from an unyielding UV assault, while the extended eyeport and zero distortion optics provide an unrivaled field of view. If the streets are your area of operation - equip yourself for the fight with the Icon Variant. Features: Carbon Fiber/Kevlar/Spectra shell construction Long oval headform Multiple oversized intake and exhaust ports Molded EPS nose reduces shield fogging Wind tunnel tested and refined Optically correct anti-fog, quick-change face shield Removable and washable HydraDry moisture wicking liner Rear spoiler for reduced helmet buffeting Removable chin curtain All world standard, meets or exceeds the following: DOT FMVSS 218 (US), ECE 22-05 (EUROPE), SAI AS1698 (Australia) and SG (Japan) safety and testing standards. Does not ship with SAI or SG certification stickers unless purchased from an authorized dealer in that country Note: Ships with yellow face shield only.

Excellent in:
Looks - this is by far the coolest looking helmet without forcing it. It's cool naturally. The carbon and that translucent plastic shell is just killer.
Ventilation - with the balaclava on, with its tight fit, top of my head still feels the breeze. I love it. This is an amazingly well vented helmet.
Viewing angle - excellent. With deep peripheral vision, wide opening for the visor this is one nicely open helmet
Weight - at 3.2 pounds (I weighed mine) this is pretty light by my standards
My only problem with this helmet was that it does not have cavities for the Sena speakers. But I had a spare Sena mount kit that has the stereo jack for earbuds so I used that one and guess what - this will force me to wear ear buds which will also take care of my non-existing habit of wearing ear protection. Ear protection is important and I would always be lazy about it and not wear it. Now I have to; if I want to listen to my precious music! Everything happens for a reason.
Though not all people may take it so lightly so be aware of this: no cavity for the speakers.
Yes, I recommend this product.

The pins on the helmet are elliptical for a reason. The plastic holes on the inserts will wear out due to vibration in time. So when the roundness of the small indents are gone, the insert will become loose and you will need to rotate the pins on the visor to make the insert tight again. With this insert it took me a few months to wear the entire thing out - thanks to New York City roads. Now the pins rotate all the way, the round indents on the insert are no longer round and there is no way to tighten the fit of the insert. When it's not airtight, it won't function. Off to buy a new one now.

fits perfect with enough movement room (not tight at all) and nicely engineered breathable areas, windstopper where necessary... can't find anything wrong with this. I use it everyday on my commute to work. I love how it also spreads around the neck covering a bit of my shoulder and throat area. I don't have to zip up my jacket all the way when it's not that cold (low 30s) and still have adequate wind protection.

Just the right height, flexible, comfortable and stylish. I can walk in them, easily, the front fabric section makes shifting even easier - a full leather boot is a bit more stiff around the front of the ankle area - well thought of details all around. I would definitely buy another pair.

First the viewing angle: amazing. my biggest problem is viewing angle, especially on the sides. I commute to work, daily on my Sportster in New York City. And having to turn my head to see the sides, check out the blind spots is a challenge with normal helmets; but with this one it's so simple and so much safer. Viewing angle downwards: amazing. Now I can see my, uh, zipper! yes! :) With my modular helmet, I had to open the face every time I had to park, look down etc. Now there is nothing that blocks my view.
This helmet is a ground breaking design in the helmet universe since the modular design.
Fits nicely, lightweight, perfect anti-fog. I cannot find anything to put on the "cons" section with this helmet.

I rode in low 30s during the nor'easter (near blizzard snow conditions) high winds and snow pour. And all I had underneath was a t-shirt and a pair of undies. This thing is amazing - for lack of a better word. Amazing.
I wore it only once in moderate rain, no problems. Did not get a chance to try it out in truly heavy downpour - can't wait.

I bought and returned at least 3 different sets of boots before I bought these (not from RevZilla though I was really disappointed with all that purchase and wait and deliver and test and sadness and return cycle)
These boots are extremely comfortable. To test, I actually walked hours and hours around in these boots in NYC. No, problems, zero, zilch, nada.
They are water -proof. I wore them during hurricane Sandy and toured around in Red Hook. Submerged them, no issues. I rode by Sporster through the nor'easter (a winter hurricane up on north east) low 20s, near blizzard conditions, no problems.
They are protected. Never had an accident with them, but this is one feature I am comfortable with not testing and not attesting to. But the protection is there, kick yourself and see.
