Nolan N104 Helmet - Solid Colors Nolan N104 Helmets represent an evolutionary step for Nolan as they replace the much touted N103 Helmet. When compared the older N103, the Nolan N104 Helmet offers a helmet which is much lighter (7oz), features a lower profile through the use of multiple shell sizes, better aerodynamics, as well as a much larger viewport for increased visibility. The (patented) chin guard rotation movement with elliptical trajectory makes it possible to keep the total size of the helmet's front section to a minimum when the chin guard is open. The sail effect is consequently highly reduced, and riding comfort is still guaranteed, even when the chin guard is lifted. The new ultrawide eyeport is the largest of any Nolan helmet, both vertically and laterally, for maximum field of view. The AIRBOOSTER ventilation system is equipped with an air intake in the chin bar, another intake in the brow, and two rear extractors at the rear. The inner comfort lining includes removable cheekpads, inner liner, neckroll and chin curtain and is easily removable and washable as well as antifungal and antibacterial. New, redesigned comfort liner also accommodates eyeglasses much more easily than before. All Nolan N104 helmets are also N-COM B4 ready ( N-COM B4 is designed expressly for the N104 and is sold separately). Shell Features Injected polycarbonate GE Lexan shell 7oz lighter than the Nolan N103 Two Shell engineering allows Nolan N104 to offer sizes from 2XS to 3XL (2XS-LG and XL-3XL) Dimensionally correct sizing allows ample cubic volume in chin/nose area Faceshield Features Face shields are now sized to fit the two different shell sizes (2XS-LG and XL-3XL) Ultra wide eye port opening is the largest on any Nolan helmet for superior visibility Shield is changed by a simple push button mechanism Pinlock shield included with each helmet VPS (Vision Protection System) is new slider bar to lower, push button release for instant retraction VPS lens is scratch and fog resistant Chin Bar Features Centromatic chin guard opening mechanism requires dual action, simultaneous action to prevent accidental opening Dual action opening mechanism is positioned in the centre of the chin guard and allows for easy, one-handed opening Ventilation N104 has new AIRBOOSTER ventilation system, ensures optimal ventilation where is is most required Air intake in the chin guard draws air in and onto the inside of the faceshield 3 position top vent (closed, crown vent, crown/brow vent) 2 venturi exhaust ports at rear of helmet New plastic vent tube channels in EPS disperse cool air throughout the helmet interior Inner Liner Features removable cheek pads, inner liner, neck roll and wind protector The inner padding of the new N104 is easily removable and washable and antibacterial The shape of the inner comfort padding facilitates eyeglass wearing Reflective insert at the centre of the roll neck further improves the rider's visibility at night Neck roll can be removed easily, for more comfort in the warmer months Other Features N-Com Communication System compatible (sold separately) Features new Microlock2 quick-release retention system Microlock2 consists of a plastic ergonomic opening lever, and of a second aluminium toothed and holding lever Microlock2 minimizes the possibility of unintentional opening while still making it ergonomic and easy to use Meets or exceeds D.O.T. standards

I had been looking forward in late 2011 to ordering the Nolan N-90 after reading the terrific review and recommendation. But then I read about the upcoming N-104, a helmet bettering the N-90 in almost every way. It was finally sent to dealers and I was very pleased to order mine. Within days, I received it and while at first it felt too snug, I decided to stick with it, preferring a tighter rather than looser fit. The ultra-wide view (both vertical and horizontal) is tremendous. The "solid" Platinum Silver helmet is a handsome compromise between a more visible color and the harder-to-see Black, Grey or Graphite. My only negative comments are regarding the Pinlock inner visor: 1) I wish it had already been installed. Not that the installation process is so difficult, but I had to remove it a couple times to wipe off smudges and specks of dust that I had allowed to find their way onto the inner surface of either the visor or the main shield. It's easy for dust to make its way onto the inner surfaces during the installation process. 2) After inserting one side of the visor into the first Pinlock "pin," I had difficulty squeezing the visor into the opposite pin. I finally bent the visor in the opposite direction to catch the second pin. It's almost as if I needed a third hand to help maneuver and bend the visor as I flattened the shield. The problem was probably more me than the process! 3) I knew there are different colors of inner visors, and the one that came with the helmet was yellow. It said in very small text on the visor's protective film that one shouldn't use anything but clear for nighttime riding. Just before I was about to return the visor for a clear one, I tried to peel back the protective film from one side just to make sure. I discovered that the visor was indeed clear; it was the film that was yellow.
The N-104 is terrific and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a flip-up helmet.
Yes, I recommend this product.
