I have been wearing an Icon Variant Salvo for about 2 years now. The helmet fits good, but is a little noisy. I wore this helmet to ride from NJ to TX and had no problems at all. The only small downside is that in high winds the helmet will pull with the wind, but overall very good, especially if you use a communicator in your helmet or a camelback while riding.

The install of this headset is simple and the improvements over prior models are great. The one downside I have is that when singing along with music, the product will switch over to the radio function. I am sure this is something that could be remedied with the settings, but unfortunately this product is not supported by Mac so I have not been able to do the online settings.
Overall this is a great product and just made a 1200 mile ride very enjoyable for both music and conversation with my brother who also has a g9 and the pairing was simple.

are the straps the same size as the Ranier tank bag?
I am looking for a smaller tank bag when the ranier is not needed, mainly just to hold an ez pass and garage door opener. are the mounting straps on these two products the same size?

helmet & mounting & removing
Will this work with the HJC CL-Max helmet? Also, I'm not sure I want the unit on my helmet all the time. Once you mount this on your helmet, can you remove the entire unit (where nothing is on your helmet) for when you don't want to use it? There may be times when I want my helmet clean from gadgets (as it's custom painted). Just wondering. Thanks.
This unit should work with all helmets, and the install and removal only takes about 5 minutes.
