It was time for me to replace my helmet ~ an older, flip-up design. I bought the Shoei RF 1100. Amazing fit around the crown of my head (round oval shape) and the sizing chart was dead on (use the tape measure method as described in the videos). But the cheek pads were just a bit too tight. I know helments break in... but I opted for the 31 mm pads. When they arrived, they snapped in easily (see video) & now the helmet is extremely comfortable in all areas. Lightweight, DOT & SNELL approved & really high quality.

How to determine optional cheek pad size?
Just purchased a medium SHOEI QUEST helmet with standard 35mm cheek pads which are too tight for the shape of my face. There are 33 and 31mm pads listed but there are no instructions to determine which would provide the best fit. any advice would be appreciated.
Not exactly technical advice, but I'm 48 and not in the same shape I was in high school. I went down to the 31 mm cheekpads with my RF 1100. Love them. I'm not drooling now from my mouth being squeezed open and the helmet is still snug. And I figure if they start to feel loose in time, I can just put the 35 mm originals back in. Hope this helps.
