Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interact Rear Tire The new Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interact allows the rider to keep everything under control. The tire follows the riders instincts with a sublime blend of precise and effortless handing. The wet weather handling of motorcycle tires, and especially the braking performance in wet conditions, is becoming an increasingly important feature demanded by the sport-touring rider. The remaining tread grooves work to add tread flexibility, extending the footprint for stability in the dry Updated design improves wear regularity which gives riders the benefit of a consistent riding performance across the tires entire life (W)-rated for speeds of 168+ mph

These tires came stock on my K1600GT. I'll start by saying that I am very particular about my tire pressures and always do a "walk around" to check out my bikes before every ride! I would consider myself as a fairly aggresive rider ... I drag parts semi often.
The front tire started cupping around 2,500-3,000 miles, the rear was showing cords at 3,872 miles. I had done a walk around and was riding with my wife the day before I found the cords showing. The tire looked fine, still not into the wear bars (close but not into# so we rode two up for a short ride ... maybe 200 miles. We got home late, parked the bike in garage. The next day I was going for a ride and during inspection found a strip in center of tire #all the way around) that measures anywhere from 2" - 4.5" of steel belt! So the tire went from not into wear bars to showing cords within 200 miles!!!!!
I am now in process of deciding what tire to run ... the only thing I am certain of it will NOT be the Metzler Roadtec!

Heidenau K60 Scout Rear Tire A true 50/50 dual sport tire, the Heidenau K60 Scout brings a proven balance of performance on- and off-road. With an improved tread and compound, the Heidenau K60 Scout dual sport tires deliver better cornering stability and wet weather grip on the pavement, while delivering off-road as well. The chevron style tread pattern is similar to full knobby designs which provides lots of open space between the tread blocks to route sand, mud and water from the contact patch while constantly keeping some rubber in contact with the road as the tire rotates. This tire is a stand-out as it does not sacrifice on-road longevity and adhesion to the pavement for off-road traction. A difficult feat for any tire to accomplish. TL Tubeless TT Tube Type Tire Please Note The K60 Scout tread pattern will vary depending on tire size.

Well I just mounted my new K60. I have less then 500 miles so far on the tire.
My initial observations are:
1) It looks like it belongs on my GS
2) I have had it in pretty heavy rain and even in rain with cold roads it held a line very well
3) Offroad traction is a lot better then stock tires
4) Too early to tell on wear but so far looks to be pretty tough tire ... still has a few "nubs" left
5) VERY CLOSE on the rear fitment with mudsling max in place (maybe 3-4mm space on bottom)
6) Will update after trip as far as wear/handling. Will be leaving for 14K mile run mid May

The Stop and Go tire repir kit is a great product for tubeless tires. I've used these plugs on motorcycles and I've used them on car and truck tires too. These are the best kind of plugs possible on motorcycle tire ... they can't be spit/flung out like the string type plugs. The tool actually compresses the plug to insert into the hole and when released the plug expands on the inside ... NO WAY for this plug to come out! It's the next best solution next to pulling tire from rim and making a patch on inside of tire! Great product, highly reccomend!

MachineartMoto AVANT Front Fender Extender for R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure The MudSling-AVANT is a patent pending front fender extension that adds 5.25 of length to protect the front of the bike from mud, water, tar, and rock splashback. The AVANT is unique in that it mounts without the need to drill holes in the fender, unlike other fender extensions. Not only is it simple to install with the included three grip clamps and black coated screws, it looks beautiful and integrates with the stock fender and is transferable to another bike without leaving disfiguring holes behind. The AVANT installs with three compression clamps secured with T25 Torx head screws, included with the fender. Made from injection molded in resilient polypropylene, it is shaped with characteristic flared wings that widen the splash coverage area without looking wide. The surface finish beautifully matches the stock BMW fender.

This is the best fender extension I have ever used. The mounting is done via special clips so you DO NOT DRILL your stock fender. The best thing is you don't need to worry about screws coming loose and getting into your tire! The extender looks good and functions great.

Very good product that will provide excellent protection for the expensive GS headlight. I bought the "dual" function protector and can swap the stainless screen and lexan screen in less then a minute (this also allows for easy cleaning behind the guard). This item is form/function at it's best ...
I had the mounting arms, screen and mounts that hold the lexan cover all powder coated flat black. Black should be an option made available by manf.

I am sure the guard will provide good protection and the quality of part and finish is very good. The only thing that kept me from giving a "5" rating is the attchment. I would have liked to see the guard atached mechanicaly instead of 3m tape. If it were mounted with screws it would allow it to be removed for cleaning the oil cooler ... maybe in the next generation AltRider would consider the mounting.

Close turns, brush, and other off road dangers wont pose a threat to your vulnerable header pipes, because this product gives them substantial coverage. And when the front wheel spits back rocks and dirt, the AltRider skid plate will protect your headers cross pipe. WOW, this is true off road protection! You can see in the pictures I'll upload that the guage and coverage is much better then the stock plate from BMW. I believe that BMW should use this plate by AltRider on every GS Adventure they sell.
