U-CLEAR HBC200 Force Bluetooth Communicator New for 2012 and featuring Boomless ABF Technology, UCLEAR HBC200 Force introduces Super Group Intercom and Multi-Hop technology, specifically designed for group communications with full duplex intercom. Multi-hop technology, used in military tactical communications provides superior sound quality and connection stability over Bluetooth intercom systems that suffer from interference and are line of sight dependent. By incorporating Multi-hop technology, each Uclear HBC200 control unit works as a repeater or relay station, enabling the network to grow as more control units/riders are added to the group. Depending on riding conditions, the intercom range between two riders is up to 700 meters. Adding a third unit/rider increases the intercom range up to an additional 700 meters. Add a fourth rider and the entire group can communicate up to 2100 meters (1.3 miles) in full duplex intercom mode. Features Music, Calls, GPS (Bluetooth devices) Super Group Intercom (Full Duplex 4 riders) Multi-Hop Communication Extender (up to 700 meters between units or 2100 meters (1.3 miles) between four units.) This is my first use of a communication device in a helmet. Maybe others are better, I have no idea, I can only say that I thought the HBC 200 would be much more impressive. I would need to compare multiple units side by side to really evaluate. I have a Shoe Neotec and my wife has a Bilt. Both have speaker pockets but the speakers were to large to fit. I had to spend time using a Dremel to create pockets that would allow the speakers to fit. Running the wires behind the pads and liners was simple enough. I was not impressed with the stick on mount but once heated up on a clean surface, it has not moved at all. As for the sound quality, I think earbuds are a much better quality. These sound tinny and difficult to hear clearly above 60mph. I am not a sound expert but at low speeds or red light, it is acceptable. I read that speaker placement is key but with no pocket large enough, I am assuming I am in the ballpark as it all seems to work.
PROS Sleek Easy to use Easy to install if provided with ear cutouts that fit these speakers Easy to link with iPhone No boom mic
CONS Sound is lacking some base Volume is too low at speeds above 60mph
Shoei Neotec Modular Helmet Evolving on previous designs, Shoei has revamped its modular helmet style with a streamlined and attractively sculpted shape that conveys the feel of freely moving through the outdoors in the Shoei Neotec Modular Helmet. Overall shell size is kept compact by incorporating the internal sun visors open/close mechanism inside all ventilation mechanisms are shaped and positioned in such a way as to reduce any possible drag. A redesigned aerodynamic spoiler also helps to cut lift, reducing neck strain on long, cross country rides. In the Shoei Neotec all these features combine to create a premium helmet that excels in appearance, protection, comfort and performance. The Shoei Neotec Helmets chin bar is connected to the same axis point and mechanism as its shield, minimizing extra parts. This also enables simultaneous closing of the shield with the chin bar, which is then held in place with an easy-open lock release button. The shield lock system offers secure closure or the ability to keep the shield slightly open to allow for increased airflow. With the Shoei Neotec Helmet, Shoei now includes a built-in sun shield, the QSV-1. The visor tucks neatly away beneath a non-intrusive shell built into the helmets liner, and can be lowered with the easy control of a sliding button. Have you guys tried this in a Multitec or the new Neotec? if not can you?
It will work with a Neotec but the speakers are too large to fit into the speaker pockets. Some modifications will need to be made in order for it to fit.
