Bought one for my wife after years of her using my old TZ-1. She loves it! It's quiet, lightweight, has good airflow throughout, and fits the shape of her head. I've always trusted Shoei to make a great product. I only wish it came with the CW-1 pinlock shield and a lens -- expect the stock shield to fog up quickly, so if you don't have the pinlock, have your trigger finger ready to crack that shield up on colder days.

If I could give it an overall 4.5, I would. I got these for my wife and I while riding our bike. They are a little bulky, but otherwise styled nicely. The speakers fit perfectly into the Qwest, so well done Sena (and Shoei). The finish is rather rugged -- mine's been knocked around a bit, and still looks and works like new. I'm not a fan of upward-pointing jacks (power or accessory, covered or not), so that's a ding. It doesn't fail to deliver on great stereo bluetooth sound and crisp, clear calls, so kudos there. I wish using the the multi-intercom single/double/triple-click was more intuitive... depends on the order syncing them. Petty point, but... I also wish it integrated with bluetooth music players better. You can pause, resume, and skip forward back, but you have to go to your mp3/phone/ipod to start streaming music, which sucks when you have gloves on. I like that the intercom trumps music, and the phone trump the intercom, but when you start switching between calls and the intercom, using the phone or intercom button to do something and the opposite button to essentially cancel/exit, you really have to pay attention otherwise you end up hanging up on your friends and telling your wife how much you hate riding two-up ;)
Overall, the pros far outweigh the cons for my style of riding and use, and my wife absolutely loves being able to chat my ears off... I'm a (held) captive audience with a helmet on ;)

Waterproof?

Is this unit waterproof at all, or does it have to come off when it rains?
Yes it's waterproof. The accessory jack on the mount is plugged and downward/backward-facing. The power jack on the transmitter itself is upward/backward facing and also plugged. I was a little concerned with it facing up, but it hasn't been a problem (yet). Something to note, the older SMH-10 models (not sure the serial numbers) use a round power plug for charging, while the newer models use micro-USB. I have both, and I've noticed the flap/plug for the micro-USB doesn't fit quite as well as the round, but once you smush it into place, it seals fine.

Which size to choose when in between sizes?

I've measured my head and it is 23 - 23 1/16 inches (depending on hair length). When I look at the sizing chart, I fall between medium and large. This will be my first Shoei and FF helmet. I'm thinking that I should try the medium, but I'm not sure. Any guidance would be appreciated...
Me personally, I would opt up... but that's based on the style riding on do and my desire to be comfortable. A too-small helmet squeezing down on my head just takes away from the enjoyment of riding for me. I would say go up and see how it feels. If it feels cavernous, it's too big. If it wobbles, it's too big. If it fits around the crown but it's too tight at the neck, you can always change out some padding. If all else fails, Revzilla makes the return pain-free, and get the MD.
