I purchased the hard shorts by Dainese to wear under my race suit and for use when snowboarding. I was worried about fit and comfort, but once I put them on and wore them, all my worries were laid to rest. I wear a 34 waist and the medium's were perfect. The material stretches quite a bit, which was great for my thighs, since I usually have a harder time finding clothes to comfortably fit them. As far as the coccyx protection, I really though it was going to be uncomfortable but surprisingly after a few minutes you don't even notice it anymore. Great protection, great fit, great comfort, good price!
Yes, I recommend this product.

differences between the Hard Shorts & the Pro Shorts

OK I can figure out that the hard shorts have a hard coccyx protector, but what other differences with the Pro Shorts? My main concern was which of the 2 are a thiner profile (& how much)? Not that I care how big my rear looks, but to wear under jeans/leathers wanting to know there is enough space. Tried the Pro shorts but not these so want to know how they compare
I bought the Alpinestars at first, but found them to be pretty uncomfortable. The large padding was a bit bulky and seemed to get in the way while wearing my race suit and even while wearing jeans. The padding on the Alpinestars is definitely thicker then the padding on the Dainese's, but at sacrificing quite a bit of comfort and flexibility. For me, the Dainses Hard Shorts were perfect. Fit well, excellent range of motion, and great protection.

Dainese Hard Shorts vs. AStars Bionic Freeride

What will be the major differences between the Dainese Hard Short and the Alpinestars Bionic Freeride? They both seem to have hard protection at the thigh and coccyx and soft padding at the hip. At similar pricepoints, which is more protective at the hip? Which is more comfortable (riding and walking)?
Ok, I actually bought the Alpinestars bionic shorts at first, and was pretty disappointed. They felt REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE thanks to the material (some kind of under-armor type with netting over top) which when trying to get into a squat position, limited the range of motion. The Alpinestars shorts I think provide a bit more protection, but it really seemed to get in the way. Not very comfortable and not terribly easy to move in. Also, regarding the type and thickness of padding they have, they don't really offer much room while wearing under a race suit or jeans. Once I bought the Dainese hard shorts, all of these problems and concerns were laid to rest. Protection yet extremely comfortable. No problems. Hope this helped!
