I'm 6'1 and usually wear a 33-34 depending on the brand. I bought the mediums in a tall size and they fit perfectly. The bottoms don't ride up when I put my feet on the pegs which is a problem I had with my Joe Rocket Alter Egos (although they were still a great pair of pants). Another poster pointed out the snaps being a poor replacement for having a hook on the waist but the snaps have been sturdy and haven't given me any issues.
Your friends are going to think you're off to ski some fresh powder when you put them on but there's a reason for it. These things have plenty of padding and the insane amount of zippers on them leave plenty of options for wearing them however you're most comfortable. I'm confident they'll fare well if they ever are put to the test. They may not be as stylish as some other pants, but they do the job well and even the small reflective stripes on the side are pretty noticeable.
I've ridden in as low as 40 and as high as 90 degrees. The liner is comfortable in the colder temps and to be honest I haven't taken the outermost shell off yet to expose just the mesh layer underneath for the hot days. Unzipping the side zippers a few inches gives just enough air to not overheat in traffic but others will probably want to remove it to get the full benefit of the mesh.
They haven't seen any rain yet so I can't comment on how well they'll handle it.

Are the pants comfortable to wear alone (with boxers) and without the liner?

I realize that these are not overpants so I am sometimes fussy with how things feel on my skin. lol
Yes, that's the only way I've ridden so far for almost 5 months with them and it's never been an issue. Without the liner inside you could probably put some pants underneath but it's just more comfortable to not have them or use some comfy athletic shorts instead. When I'm riding I never notice them which means they've done a great job of making them fit just right for me.
