Shoei RF-1200 Phantasm Helmet Just devilish enough, the Shoei RF 1200 Phantasm Helmet features a contrasting matte black and white finish with ghosted skulls. The Shoei RF 1200 represents years of development and evolution of the Shoei RF Helmet series, distilled into one of the most advanced sport helmets available. The RF1200 has evolved through both wind tunnel testing and on-track rider feedback into a helmet that is light-weight, quiet and most of all extremely safe. Slim And Light Weight Design One of the most important features of a quality helmet is that you hardly know its there protecting your head. Shoei has reduced the weight of the RF-1200 by using a slimmer design and building a distinct line into the side of the helmet that also serves as an accent. As a result, the new Shoei RF-1200 is lighter than any other Snell certified helmet in the current Shoei lineup. Shell Construction The new slim design of the Shoei RF-1200, with its distinct accent cut line, widens the bottom of the helmet to help ease the process of putting the helmet on or taking it off. Further advancing the comfort of the AIM+ shell is the industry leading four shell sizes that the Shoei RF-1200 comes in. The impact-absorbing dual liner consists of two layers incorporating different densities, helping to effectively balance the potential impact applied to the more rigid shell. Quietness Through advancements in the aerodynamic shape, improved interior linings and a new and improved shield system the rider will experience a very quiet and comfortable riding experience. The interior of the RF-1200 has achieved a balance of a comfortably soft fit and a firm, stable hold. The new design of the cheek pads also improves the motion of the neck, thus helping the rider to check traffic behind him/her for example. Shield System The new CWR-1 Pinlock shield features ribs on top and bottom of the shield to improve rigidity and eliminate bending of the shield caused by wind pressure or the opening and closing of the shield. Independent beading in the top and sides of the helmet help to keep the seal of the shield tight and eliminate any excess air. In addition to the CWR-1 shield, Shoei has developed a new base plate for the RF-1200. The Quick-Release Self-Adjusting base plate is spring-loaded and pulls the shield back onto the helmet, sealing it tightly against wind and rain. The addition of a new five-stage rotating dial allows for fine tuning of the base place for easy shield adjustments. Ventilation A large lower three position vent, three upper air vent intakes and four uniquely positioned upper exhaust outlet vents combine with the Dual Density EPS liner to allow cooling air to travel unrestricted through tunnels created in the EPS liner. Features Four shell sizes Dual density EPS liner Superior ventilation 3D Max-Dry System II Liner E.Q.R.S. (Emergency Quick-Release System) CWR-1 Shield System Neatly secure chin strap Includes Pinlock pins and lens insert Includes breath guard and chin curtain Snell M2010 and DOT Certified Note Due to manufacturer restrictions, Shoei products can only be shipped to addresses within the United States

This is my first Shoei helmet before this i had a Icon Alliance, Bell Revolver and a Nexx XR1R Carbon.
The Nexx was my usual helmet because of its looks, light weight and airflow (i live in South Fl) great helmet overall but the Nexx only has 3 shell sizes (if i am not mistaken) and I am a xs. SO what happens when your in that far end of the spectrum is the shell size maybe a small and they just use extra padding to make it a xs, same thing with the bigger sizes they will either use extra or less padding between the L and XL sizes.
For people like me it creates a "bobble head" look as the helmet looks disproportionate from the rest of my body even with full riding gear, (jacket gloves etc.) With the RF1200 they have 4 shell sizes so the xs helmet uses a xs shell = perfection. Plus the helmet is great when it comes to airflow & comfort, the visor is really nice as it has a bunch of detentes. Something the Nexx is a bit missing and the once that it does have are very loose. Head checks at highway speeds are great with the RF1200 no buffering or anything. There is a little wind noise mostly when doing head checks but its not that big a deal to me as there is always noise from the road, the bike's engine etc. 1 thing i find odd is the chin strap retainer snap, its a bit to high i think as it sometimes is hard to find/snap in once you strap the helmet in. I feel like it should be a bit lower or its just something i need to get used to.
The paint/graphics on the Phantasm helmet is really awesome, it has a matte finish with these subtle 3D ish graphics on it that really show up in sun light.
Overall its the best helmet i think i have thus far.

Best Shield ever, changes to light conditions, no need for sunglasses unless you want to protect your eye when you lift the shield up for some air flow at low speeds on hot days.
