Bell RS-1 Helmet - Solid Colors The all-new Bell RS-1 Solid Helmet bridges the gap between the top-of-the-line Bell Star and the value-minded Vortex with an amazing blend of mid-line price and high-end performance. Starting with a lightweight Kevlar/fiberglass composite shell, the RS-1 brings it with Bells vaunted Velocity Flow Ventilation system providing cool comfort, a super stable aerodynamic profile keeping the helmet still at speed, and the versatile Click Release shield system for fast, easy shield swapsnot to mention an amazing variety of tint and coating choices. While this helmet was all I expected from a high-end full-face model, as a new model it did have a one quirk that kept it from perfection in my view. . . . There are three slider controls for the three face vents, and the top one chatters when the wind is rushing across it. Not a big noise, just enough to be noticable, but one of those little things that separates this lid from the high-end offerings from the likes of AGV, Shoei, or Arai. But for the money difference, I will put up with the chatter! Nice all around hat, very comfortable, and at a great price.

Does this fit like the Shoei X-11?

Looking to replace my X11 this year. Does the RS1 fit like the X11? Keep in mind the RF1100 and Quest fit rounder heads than the X11 does. Will the RS1 work in an upright position like on my R1200RT? My X11 works just fine on my R1200RT when I put the windscreen down. I just am uncomfortable with the idea the vortex will be heavy and will catch the wind when I turn my head. Is this heavy like a Scorpion helmet or lighter more like the X11? Thanks
I've worn both, and though cannot say I've ridden with the X11, it seems to be just as light a helmet. Your RT has the same riding position as my Triumph Trophy though, and I have no problems with this RS-1. In fact, it really seems to slice nicely through the wind no matter how my head is oriented. A choice I would recommend. . . . Good luck.

Which face shield comes with RS-1 Helmet, is it the face shield displayed in the picture?

The standard clear faceshield comes with this lid. The photochromic model shown in some of the photos, comparable to Transitions sunglasses, is another $95. The combination is still a better price than comparable hats from Arai or Shoei, and you don't get that visual jitter that can happen with more than one visor (even sunglasses and a visor) in front of your eyes while astride a vibrating machine. If you went with another Bell full-face helmet in the future, you can still use the same light-sensitive face shield . . . Name me another brand that will accommodate that!
