Icon Contra Jacket From the shadowy realm of street-styled textile jackets, Icon again tapped their mx roots and tripled into the main. Contra is technically perfect - superior in fit and function to all that came before. Ultra durable nylons are strategically patterned into the industries finest no-bind fit. Fighter mesh panels allow intake and exhaust airflow dramatically reducing the chance of overheating. A full complement of Icon's internal CE approved Field Armor provide ample street insurance. Finally, ballistic rubber badging puts the classy in this chassis. Zip one up and become a believer, this is the ultimate in textile perfection. Durable nylon textile chassis Heavyweight ballistic impact panels Removable CE Field Armor impact protector elbow Removable CE Field Armor impact protector shoulder Removable dual-density foam back pad Removable insulated liner Internal zippered pocket for secure storage Relaxed Icon fit Imported

This jacket has actually made me doubt whether or not I would buy another Icon product.
The bad:
First it's important to understand that I'm pretty skinny (5'11" 137lbs) so this jacket may fit larger people a little better. I got a size small and I feel like the chest and torso area are big for me even with the torso straps fully tightened. The cut is pretty boxy so for a tall skinny person in a size small the front of the jacket is a little high when not riding and the sleeves are a little short on and off the bike. This jacket being so big and bulky also makes it very uncomfortable to ride while wearing a back pack. Although you can get Icon's PDX rain jacket which fits over this one nicely I would not consider this jacket to be a winter jacket. Even with the liner and two hoodies underneath you can really feel the cold on a morning in the san francisco bay ara which was a pretty big dissapointment for me. That being said, in the heat this jacket isn't awesome either, there is come ventilation but once the layers and liner come out this jacket is way too big on me.
The good:
Pretty decent venitlation and protection and an upgradable spine protector.

I bought the Evo K4 a few months ago and went ahead and ordered this smoke faceshield and I am so grateful I did.
I work in a bakery which means I commute to and from work at sunrise and sunset riding toward the sun. There's really no reason not to buy this faceshield, it's dark enough to ride into the sun but light enough to not make you feel like you can't see what's going on. Plus, with the K4 it is suuuuuper easy to change from one shield to another as riding conditions change. It's so easy to do you don't even need to take he helmet off.

I got this helmet a few months after a guy backed into me at a gas station. I am pretty happy with it so far. At first it was a bit tight and even gave me a little bit of a headache if I wore it for too long but after about the first month of breaking it in it's perfect and snug. The upper front vents are a great feature and you can really feel them when they're open, like little jets of cool air hitting your forehead. I also bought the smoke visor and I'm really happy I did. I work at a bakery so I am usually commuting at sunrise and sunset and usually riding toward the sun. The visors are INCREDIBLY easy to change. In fact, they're so easy to change that you can do it without even having to take the helmet off. The first time I work this helmet I was amazed with how light it was compared to my previous two helmets. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that despite being so lightweight it is also quieter than my other two. The front of the helmet is a bit close to my face (I could purse my lips and touch it without any effort at all) which took a little getting used to for me but now it makes me feel a little more secure and less like my head is floating around in a helmet. Before buying this helmet I did some research and asked a friend who races what he though, we both agreed that this helmet was my best option especially for how inexpensive it is. I stand by my decision to purchase this helmet and would definitely recommend it to a friend. Oh, also, being able to wash most of the padding is wonderful!
