I like every helmet I have (1) 2004 Schubert S1 (2) C3's and a (1) Aria XD3. I bought the ICON Valiant Battle Scar because it was cool and looked like nothing else I have owned. If I didn't like it I would just return it. Right now it is 101 degrees in Texas and the Valiant air flow is great. Good wide vision and the dark face shield is nice in the bright sun. The peak does not bother me in the least with wind. My size is 7 3/8's and the ICON sizing chart is right on! The purchase was a gamble based on looks but helmet is excellent and priced right.

Icon Variant Helmet - Solid Survival is a matter of enhanced situational awareness - an unforgiving maze of gravel strewn corners and malevolent steel. Comfort, vision, protection. Introducing the Variant helmet from Icon. A wind tunnel refined shape, executed in a Fiberglass/ Dyneema/Carbon matrix, along with an dual-density EPS core provide critical impact energy management. Extensive venting and a removable Hydradry wicking liner provide increase comfort by reducing rider fatigue. The anti-lift visor directs and channels airflow as it reduces the glare from an unyielding UV assault. While the extended eyeport and zero distortion optics provide unrivaled field of view. If the streets are your area of operation - equip yourself for the fight. All world standard, meets or exceeds the following dot fmvss 218 (US), ECE 22-05 (Europe), SAI AS1698 (Australia) and SG (Japan) safety and testing standards. Does not ship with SAI or SG certification stickers. How quiet is the Variant compaired to the Shoei Qwest or Scorpion EXO 1100?

I ride an FJR 1300 with a tall windscreen and get alot of wind noise and buffeting with my HJC Symax 2 and need a quieter helmet
I wear custom ear plugs so every helmet is quite for me! But one feature with this helmet is that if I push my jaw forward it opens a airway under my ears! Right now in Texas it 101 and I just love this unintended feature along with the air flow is excellent over all. But to answer your question about the other helmets I can only say that it is just a quite as my Aria XD 3.
