Nolan N104 Action Helmet Nolan N104 Helmets represent an evolutionary step for Nolan as they replace the much touted N103 Helmet. When compared the older N103, the Nolan N104 Helmet offers a helmet which is much lighter (7oz), features a lower profile through the use of multiple shell sizes, better aerodynamics, as well as a much larger viewport for increased visibility. The (patented) chin guard rotation movement with elliptical trajectory makes it possible to keep the total size of the helmet's front section to a minimum, when the chin guard is open. The sail effect is consequently highly reduced and riding comfort is still guaranteed, even when the chin guard is lifted. The new ultrawide eyeport is the largest of any Nolan helmet, both vertically and laterally for maximum field of view. The AIRBOOSTER ventilation system is equipped with an air intake in the chin bar, another intake in the brow and two rear extractors at the rear. The inner comfort lining includes removable cheekpads, inner liner, neckroll and chin curtain and is easily removable and washable as well as antifungal and antibacterial. New, redesigned comfort liner also accommodates eyeglasses much more easily than before. All Nolan N104 helmets are also N-COM B4 ready ( N-COM B4 is designed expressly for the N104 and is sold separately). I have the Nolan 104 Action XXL model, which has the biggest shell size.
The large field of vision is surprisingly satisfying.
Less wind noise than the Nolan N90 modular for me, but I always wear earplugs so I can't comment on overall quiet.
The ventilation is excellent. That, plus the included Pinlock antifog insert and you may never fog up. Someone commented that this helmet was hot. If so, it is not for lack of venting. Helmets get hot, especially dark colors.
It is lighter than my Nolan N90, but bigger, too. Hmm. This largest shell is noticeably bigger than the comparable fit N90.
Fit is not what I expected. For being so closely related to the N90, it is surprising how totally different they are--they could be from different companies. I have read that the N90 was considered to be more for a rounder head, and that the N104 had a bit more oval to it. Well, maybe it is true overall, it doesn't feel that way at my size. Both fit, just don't expect an Arai. There is more face/chin room on this than the N90.

If you have the N90 you know that it is great, and well, this is just the shield. Well made, doesn't scratch easily, comes with PInlock (!). Don't drop your N90, or you will need a shield.

Other than shabby knee foam there is no hint of armor.
The materials are basic, but adequate, as is design and build.

Whether you buy this instead of a waterproof boot, or just as back-up to your "waterproof" boots, or use this in sketchy muddy conditions for a bit of extra dryness and warmth, these strike me as a great idea.
They are thin, so bulk/sizing is no issue due to that, but these do run almost a full size small, for me.

The other reviews have touched on what I also think are the strengths of these: comfort, non-bulky (for a winter glove), and warmth--if you are riding long distances in freezing weather without fairings, shields, or heated grips, no glove will give warmth unless it looks like a pillow. All I can add is they run quite small: in most gloves I measure L, but buy XL and it fits correctly, in these I bought 2XL and it fits correctly. I don't know what people with actual big hands do for gloves.

I just purchased some Dainese items and these Tomsk pants are like the others: well designed and made. The fabric and features are what I would expect for this price, but I have semi-quibbles:
I would have thought that the too-common quilted soft liner material so common in low-price jackets and pants would have been replaced here by something more technically advanced--and thinner. That is important because these are not generously cut, and I would not mind a bit more room in the leg--they fit, they move with you, they work, but they are not loose fitting. Without the liner they should be fine, but if you have thick legs these might not work for you.

I resisted getting Pinlock because I didn't like the sound of it--a stick on lens, held on by pins. However, having tried and been dissatisfied with every application-type product for antifog protection, Pinlock was just about the last resort. Luckily, it is superior.
My conditions are tough: cold air, very high humidity, fog in the air. Most of the products I tried could handle lesser conditions, but when the conditions are at their worst the Pinlock rocks.

I like this helmet a lot, and in moderate weather it is usually my first choice: light, easy to use, convenient. I second all of the positive comments, but I want to note some exceptions:
1. The ventilation is average at best. Especially if your concern is anti-fogging, this is not a good choice unless you fit a Pinlock lens. It is also hot in even moderate summer heat (and my Miglia is white).

2. It is sized overall correctly, but is somewhat ovalish and has a close-up face shield, which may explain the "small" fit comments.
3. It might feel "flimsy" because it is light and it is a plastic-based shell, instead of heavy fiberglass, but it rates as a good impact resistor--plastic shells can be very good at spreading energy over a helmet's material.
I do like the Miglia a lot, but for a lot of my riding (like 9 freakin months) in cool, moist air where anti-fogging and ventilation is important, the Miglia is not as good as the Nolan N90. The N90 also has an overall better set of features and materials, I believe.

The overall quality of the hardware, materials, and even design seems better than similarly priced helmets. Compared to most helmets--especially modulars--the ventilation is good. If your concern with ventilation is for anti-fogging, relax! the helmet includes a Pinlock anti-fog insert which is the best anti-fog method I have found, and I have looked at several. Even if you don't get this helmet, you might want to check out Pinlock.
There is a flip-down sunscreen which is very useful.
The chinstrap mechanism is a modern rachet thingy that works well, is secure, and takes minimum fuss.

I thought that the AGV Modular was a good helmet--it was well rated--but the N90 is just better in every way.

How much length on average do the Tall sizes add to the inseam?
Not much. I got a 56-tall for my 33 inch inseam, and it fits about right for motopants. If in doubt and you tend to be long in your clothing, definitely go with talls.

How loud is this helmet?
I have a transformer style helmet from another brand. I find it to be excessively loud. It caused me to buy $60 earplugs that only help a little. Even when it is fully closed up, the wind thumping against my ears is terrible, so I don't wear it anymore.

The Miglia is somewhat noisy--and I have glued a high density foam into the ear areas because there is a big gap at the ears where there is just the shell. Any good in-ear foam plug will make a world of difference. Try different plugs till you find a good fit.
If anti-fogging is not a concern for you, this is a good value helmet, with basic features.
If fogging is a problem, the Nolan N90, which I use most of the time, is much better because of superior ventilation and an included Pinlock lens system.

How does this fit compared to the Agv Miglia?
I have tried on the Agv Miglia and I found it to be the best fitting helmet for my head.
I didn't see a shape detail on your Miglia page.
Also, is this the same chin strap mechanism as the Miglia? Personally, I didn't care for that one.

I have the AGV and the N90. The Miglia is more oval than the N90. Not by much, but if I really pack my head into the N90, I feel pressure I do not feel with the AGV. In normal riding, I don't notice it much if at all. My ovalish head fits deeper into the Miglia without pressure points.
The chinstrap on the N90 is much better than the AGV. Both sides of the N90 strap are rather rigid, and one rachets up on the other. Very clean and easy. I don't like the AGV gizmo either.
If you get the AGV, cut out two shaped-to-fit pieces of high-density foam and glue them inside the helmet at the ears. Otherwise the noise is terrible. Even with the inserted foam I wear earplugs.
