Purchased these gloves for commuting in the winter. Our weather dips into the teens (F) and is humid year round. Thought these might work for a cold weather ride last weekend as well, so I pulled the trigger on these based on the Revzilla video reviews.
I don't own much gear and these are my only cold weather gloves. Rode in the mid 40s on a naked bike and my fingers only got cool after several hours. No air penetrated, but after the shell gets cold it's only a matter of time before some of that drifts into the hands. Temp shot up to the low 60s the next day, and the gloves were fine - warm, but no sweaty-hand issues.
I have no fear they will manage for a 30 minute commute when it gets colder around here.
The glove's cuff is very versatile; I have worn these both on the inside and outside of my jacket sleeve.
Outside of a little drizzle, I was unable to test the waterproofing. After riding around 600 miles and camping they still look brand new. They haven't been "put to the test" yet, but I believe these will last me a while.
They are sized small, and have some other issues which may lead to some discomfort. I took the advice of Revzilla and ordered a size up - even from Dainese's sizing chart. I measured between a L and an XL, so I ordered an XXL. I must have extremely long fingers because the fingers on the gloves are short. Everything fits pretty well other than that, so I believe I ordered the best fit available. I suspect (like pants) length is not a dimension that changes much when sizing up. I can still reach all my controls without the uncomfortable "stretching" that usually turns me off to gloves, so they work for me.
However, on my left hand, my knuckle gets smashed by the knuckle guard after my hand has worked it's way into the glove by clutching repeatedly. This can be very uncomfortable when you have to operate the clutch a lot, and results in a heavily bruised knuckle. Which makes further use of the clutch hurt more and more. I've found I can alleviate this by shaking the glove down a bit at stops, but... there you go. The fact that this only happens on my left hand tells me this is probably not a fault of the glove.
One more thing, if the website says the glove is "available" and not "in-stock" be prepared to wait for it. I was ordering them for my trip, and expected I would have time to return them if they did not fit (I missed the warning Revzilla puts up, and went with the free shipping). I received them 17 days after I placed the order which was the night before my trip. My test run revealed the fault I described above and had me nervous about the fit, but I had no choice at that point. On the trip I came to peace with the gloves and realized they are probably as good a fit as can be had for my freaky hands.
